This application process is simultaneously intimidating and reassuring. Intimidating because I just want to play team based games with an organized group, what’s all this application stuff? Reassuring because it requires a level of effort that would filter out truly casual people who might not really participate. I was a member gaming clans, and am currently a member of a clan, that is so casual that it is hard to find players most of the time. It is the same group of half a dozen people in the discord chatting about random stuff. Having some requirements for participation seems intimidating for a “casual” player, but if you want people to play a games with, then, there you go.

Anyway, me: As far as games go, I am interested in the Rainbow Six at the moment. I have played Overwatch, Warframe, Destiny 2 and Apex in the recent past also. Though I am not the best at clicking on heads, I do prefer the excitement of a shooter over other game types such as MOBAs, for instance. (I did play Epic Games’ Paragon MOBA for a while, though it was on the way out at the time. It is a different experience to play a third person shooter style game with such “durable” opponents compared to say Apex or Overwatch.)

Apex may rely a bit too much on raw precision for my skill. The latest Overwatch meta (Goats/triple tank) was a source of too much frustration (why won’t anything die?!). Though I’m I’ve played Warframe and Destiny (spiritual cousins to be sure) they might be a bit too grindy for me, at least as a solo player. (I do love Warframe when I need my shooter fix on the road. The game is so well optimized that it looks good even on my older laptop with Intel graphics.)

So anyway, I think I would be most interested in the tactical play of Rainbow Six. (Everytime I try to type the name I accidentally abbreviate it as “Rainbox”...)

As for life outside gaming, I rode a motorcycle for a few years. Eventually got rid of because commuting on a motorcycle isn’t all it is cracked up to be. I have practiced the guitar and piano off and on, though never really got good at either. Having two older children and a wife with migraine headaches tends to keep me busy at home. Though the kids are now 20 and going on 18, so they need less of my time. Money, yes. Time, not so much.

Used to be a Star Trek fan (still am I guess). Star Wars also, but the recent Disney installments have been less impressive, but maybe they just don’t live up to my nostalgia? Comic books were a thing to. Not as interesting lately. The characters tend to get stale over too much time. The Marvel movies were great. We’ll see if Tom Holland’s very entertaining Spider-Man can carry Brie Larson’s insufferable Captain Marvel in the future installments. (To be fair, I haven’t seen the Captain Marvel movie. Her appearances in Endgame was superfluous, by design. Brie Larson herself seems to be...abrasive?)

Tech geek by nature, an Electrical Engineer in college, software development for a financial services firm for a career, only partially disappointed by my son who chose art over tech. At least he is looking at gaming art! (Not disappointed at all, I just like to give him a hard time about it.)

Built my latest computer so I could play better games without hogging the living room TV. Now I just need folks to play them with.
