Howdy,
My name's Al, 31 years old, a QA Engineer based in Brighton, UK. I came across your community after seeing your recruitment post on /r/R6STeams which caught my interest.
A bit about me: I've been a PC player since the original Half-life, which then got me playing Counter-Strike and Team Fortress Classic. I've dipped into many games on and off, but certainly my most played ever was Team Fortress 2 (>1800 hours played apparently). About 12 years ago I joined a TF2 community, similar to yours, in which I was an active member (eventually becoming part of the Admin team). This was mainly a relaxed, mature social community that was a bit like a second family. We hung out a lot and attended multiple LANs and events together. A group of us eventually spun off a competitive team that competed in a handful of leagues and tournaments as well.
That community eventually naturally fizzled out as TF2 became less popular and people went their separate ways (about 7 years ago), with a handful I'm still in touch with. However I've deffo missed the community life and would love to be part of one again, as it generally makes the fun of gaming infinitely better.
In regards to Rainbow Six, I started playing it on PC on launch and during Year 1. However I only had a couple friends who owned it on PC that played it on and off, and a bunch of others who owned on PS4, so I eventually joined them on that. I played a fair amount but ultimately I just don't get along with playing FPS's on a controller so stopped.
I would come back to it on PC every now and then briefly, however I've always kept up with RB6 news and updates, either via YouTube, or occasionally checking in on Pro League. I've wanted to get back into it properly for sometime, but a mix of not wanting to just play on my own and having the time to learn all the new maps etc had put me off.
Now with all that's happening in the world, an upside is I've had that extra time and pushed through that initial "hump" and am playing semi-regularly and thoroughly enjoying it. I've been playing primarily solo (occasionally duo with a colleague who's just started). I've just done my ranked placements (Silver 2), which was fine but it left me wanting a team to play and improve with (I deffo have a lot to learn still)
Which brings me to this application, I'm looking to join an active community of like minded, mature people who are first and foremost just looking to enjoy the game and each others company, but also play to win and improve together. From what I've read so far, it sounds like that's what Seismic is about.
Outside of PC gaming, I also enjoy Warhammer 40k, Powerlifting and long walks with my awesome dog (Boomie the Shiba Inu).
Thanks for your time, hopefully hear back from you soon
Cheers,
Al
